Buzzing the Chora

 Andrea got this shot of the Chora, the village on top of the island, as we were making our descent into the little airport on the island.

Sometimes the pilots buzz the Chora or Livadi bay to give the folks on board a great view of the island. Today was no exception. Look closely at this photo and you will see crowning the Chora the ruins of a Ventian castle, and a couple of blue domed Orthodox churches. Our worksite for the field school is also way up high in the Chora, tucked beneath the castle walls and a church.

Chora is the bustling center of the island whether you are looking for a restaurant or a night of drinking till dawn.
