Terminal 1 CDG Airport
After a trying flight on Air France we finally arrived in Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris. This is a sprawling enormous airport with several terminals linked by trams and buses. It is always an adventure getting around this space, but today's arrival took the cake.
The first problem was that our connecting gate info was not listed on any of the boards in the terminal. This issue was compounded by the fact that I inadvertently stowed all pertinent documents in my checked luggage. So I was left trying to get a wi-fi connection that would link me to the digital document. Eventually I succeeded, but airport scanning technology does not seem to work on all digital platforms.
We needed to get to Terminal 1 for our connecting flight, and we arrived in Terminal 2E. Seems close right? Not so. We took two different buses on a journey of several miles before we reached the connecting bus to Terminal 1. Andrea and I were the only occupants on this huge bus and we were delivered to this monolithic structure in the middle of nowhere.
A man buzzed us through a locked portal and demanded our documents, of course I had the previously mentioned difficult to scan images on my phone. We eventually go them to work and we were escorted down a series of long hallways by this gentleman until we finally emerged in Terminal 1! Hurray! However for some unknown reason we had to go through passport control and security two more times before we got to the gate.
The moral of the story is, keep a printed copy of your boarding pass and leave lots of layover time if connecting at Charles De Gaulle airport.
