Taxi!

We finally reached Astypalaia, and needed to take a taxi from the airport to Provarma Studios.  Yorgos, one of the two taxi driver's on the island was ready and willing to take us into town.  However, we had another couple share the taxi with us and they had six pieces of luggage. Andrea and I each had one.  So now 8 bags needed to be crammed into the trunk of a Toyota Camry.  Luckily Yorgos had some bungee cords handy, and after some creative arranging off we set off down the winding road at about 15 miles an hour.

Now let me tell you, we have driven with Yorgos before, and he has never gone 15 miles an hour. Usually a trip with him is more like Mr. Toad's wild ride.  He took the road slowly and carefully, and in the end we did not lose a single piece of luggage!

Here is a photo of Yorgos, on the left, and our fellow passenger repacking the trunk after Andrea and I had our bags extracted.  Yes, our bags were on the bottom.
