Vatses Beach

Since we had rented a car for a couple of days we decided that we might visit a couple of other beaches on the island.  We had big ambitions.  So we set off to the first stop on our journey, Vatses beach.

It is not so far to Vatses from our studio, less than 10 kilometers, but it is over a mountain and down a steep dirt road.  The first photo is of the mountain pass that we went through in order to reach the sea beyond.

When we got back down to sea level we were rewarded with a beach fringed with this spectacular blue water.  I did not get a picture, but there are some grass tiki umbrellas, lounge chairs and a bar at this beach.  Needless to say, we didn't get any further than Vatses beach that day.  We swam, sat under the umbrella and had a picnic lunch of pizza left over from the day before.  I think we might have had some cookies too!

A relaxing day on at the beach on a Greek island.  You can't ask for much more.
