Acropolis

Took this picture at the gates of the Acropolis as it opened for the day. A local tells me that the military patrol the perimeter and inspect the site at the beginning of each day.

A scathing heat wave has descended on Athens, and it is news even in this hot climate. Several people told me that temps reached 42C over the last couple of days. The weather in Astypalaia is cooler with a persistent wind, and we are grateful. I even enjoyed a dip in the sea today.
